Too Young to Protest

Why must a professional--in this case, a nurse--exploit her 3-year-old child in her protest of a possible salary decrease (“80 Nurses Picket in Effort to Keep Overtime Pay,” Sept. 19)?

I am in favor of children deciding their own political causes after the age of about 16. Nurses, teachers, pro-choicers, anti-vivisectionists and other protesters should speak for themselves--and nominate some of their numbers to baby-sit.
