Du Pont Co. said it will cut 440 more jobs as part of its two-year, $1-billion cost-cutting plan. The latest reductions are concentrated in the finance and human resources divisions and will save the company an estimated $130 million a year. . . . Chase Manhattan Corp. said it expects to report third-quarter earnings similar to its second-quarter profit of 80 cents a share, compared to a $5.03-per-share loss a year earlier. . . . A federal judge imposed a $5-million fine on Georgia-Pacific Corp. after it plead guilty to trying to take a $24-million tax deduction for a $2-million piece of Florida swampland. The Atlanta firm must also pay the IRS $16 million in back taxes and penalties.
