Placement of Yorkin Story Raises Ire

I am outraged that you relegated to the View section a story about a $10-million donation because it was made by a woman for women’s rights (“$10-Million Woman,” Oct. 4).

If a man had donated $10 million to an art museum, would the story appear only in the Calendar section? I don’t think so.

And why does half of the short text about the donation include a male anti-feminist’s opposition to her gift? Is it news that some men oppose women’s rights?

Do you still wonder why Peg Yorkin is angry? I don’t. Women are tired of being treated like second-class citizens. We’re sick of making 59 cents for every dollar a man makes. We’re outraged that we can’t walk the streets without being sexually assaulted. And we’re furious that the media relegate our political actions to the lifestyle section of the paper.
