Family Leave Bill

Share

Though I understand Barry Weiss’ anger over Gov. Pete Wilson’s veto of AB 101, I am saddened that he directs his anger at the heterosexual community (letter, Oct. 11). My husband and I have both worked since our marriage in 1982; we bought our first home based on two incomes and moved up to our second on two incomes. When our first child was born earlier this year, I contemplated leaving the work force to raise her. Financially, it was just not feasible. I resent Weiss’ inference that anyone who cannot stay home to raise children is irresponsible. Were Weiss and his significant other able to procreate, they might very well find themselves faced with the same dilemma.

C’mon, Barry! I support AB 101. Please don’t begrudge working families this very small victory (of a family leave law).
