Newport Beach Player Wins Men's Tennis Title

Bob Duesler of Newport Beach defeated Ron Livingston of Laguna Beach, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, to win the men's 55-and-over singles championship of the U.S. Tennis Assn. National Hardcourt Championships Sunday at the Lindborg Racquet Club.

Duesler teamed with Jim Nelson of Newport Beach to win the 55-and-over doubles title, defeating Livingston and Larry Huebner of Fresno, 6-3, 6-1.

Duesler and Nelson also played in the finals of the 50-and-over doubles division, but lost to Len Saputo of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Steve Wilkinson of St. Peter, Minn., 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
