Very Presidential Stuff: The Paul Perlin collection of presidential campaign memorabilia will go on the auction block Dec. 12 at Sotheby’s New York. The collection of 20,000 buttons, photographs, letters and documents from the campaigns of George Washington to Jimmy Carter will be sold as a single unit, at an estimated price of $2.5 million to $3.5 million. Perlin, a Chicago commodities trader, compiled the collection in the ‘70s and loaned it to the University of Kentucky from 1980-1990.
