Injured Chutist Pulled Off Cliff by Firefighters

LAGUNA NIGUEL — A 25-year-old man was trapped against a steep hill and sustained minor injuries Thursday when he lost control while airborne over Aliso Canyon.
Alek Kerstein of Huntington Beach and a friend had been taking turns wearing a parachute, jumping off a cliff and gliding parasail-style to the bottom of the canyon, Orange County Fire Department spokeswoman Kathleen Cha said.
Kerstein apparently lost control of the chute and was blown onto a 1,000-foot hill, Cha said. He dangled there for a short period before firefighters could lower a basket and rescue him around 1:30 p.m.
Kerstein suffered a broken right leg and was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center,
