Cityhood Proponents Move Closer to Goal

Share

Cityhood proponents in unincorporated Hacienda Heights have moved one step closer to their goal with the release of a Los Angeles County report showing that the proposed city would be financially self-sustaining.

The county Local Agency Formation Commission, an appointed board that oversees incorporation matters, estimated this week that the east San Gabriel Valley community of 68,000 would take in $2.2 million more in tax and fee revenue than it would have to pay out to provide services if it incorporates.

The commission has scheduled a Dec. 11 hearing. Cityhood proponents are aiming for a June, 1992, incorporation election. Two previous drives failed.
