Gays Face Hatred Daily

Share

To Ron Hardeman (Letters to the Editor, Sunday Oct. 20) and all the others like him who don’t get what the gay/lesbian protests against Gov. Pete Wilson’s veto of AB101 are all about:

Step back from your own prejudice, superiority and intolerance for a moment. Try to conceptualize this: Your daughter, whose path was temporarily blocked, who was inconvenienced for a few minutes, who felt threatened and was certainly frightened by the Van Nuys demonstration, is a perfect example of what many gays and lesbians experience daily, for a lifetime, because of an anti-constitutional and popular attitude of bigotry and hatred.

It severely limits their freedom of choice and makes them feel that it’s finally time to raise their voices in defense of their rights as human beings to speak as they choose, live where they want and work in their chosen field.
