Kvartalnov’s 4 Goals Lead Gulls

After Saturday night’s display, Gulls left wing Dmitri Kvartalnov could be the International Hockey League’s leading goal scorer. His four goals carried the Gulls to a 6-5 victory over the Salt Lake Golden Eagles in front of 3,242 at the Delta Center.

Kvartalnov, who entered the weekend second in the league in goals, scored twice in the first period and twice in the third period to give him 13 goals in 11 games.

The Gulls gained ground in the IHL West Division, as both Kansas City (10-1-0, 20 points) and Peoria (8-2-1, 17) suffered losses. The Gulls, with their third consecutive victory, are 7-6 with 14 points.

The Gulls led, 3-1, after Kvartalnov scored for the second time with 25 seconds left in the first period. But they found themselves tied, 4-4, after a second period in which former Gull Dennis Holland had a goal and two assists within a span of six minutes.
