Myers Must Resign or Be Sent Packing

Robert Myers, city attorney of Santa Monica, should be dismissed for insubordination. Any attorney who understands the meaning of the word would not disregard and subvert the directions of his or her client’s policy-making body.

Mr. Myers is arrogant and self-righteous. He insists that the people of Santa Monica accept his method of dealing with the homeless, while mouthing platitudes about society’s failures.

Would he accept the same self-righteous behavior from the zealots of Operation Rescue? Must I accept Myers’ dictatorial ukase in lieu of the views of the elected City Council?

I want the homeless to be treated generously and compassionately; as human beings, they are entitled to fair treatment. But I do not have to accept Mr. Myers’ imperial disregard of my elected representatives.

Myers must resign, or be fired.
