Put Blame on Wilson

Share

To paraphrase Lisa Sciortino of Henderson, Nev.: “Infuriated is the only word to describe the way I felt” after reading her letter to the editor Oct. 20.

As president of the Chatsworth High School Parent Teachers Student Assn., I can say that school administrators were able to control their students. They did not stand back and watch the situation explode. They are not to be blamed if there is not enough school security on campus. They have been asking for more security personnel for a long time.

Sciortino should put the blame where it belongs: on a governor who has cut the Los Angeles Unified School District’s budget so much that it has jeopardized security as well as education. Instead of writing to The Times, she should write Gov. Pete Wilson if she cares so much.
