A cold front, bringing strong, cool winds and a slight chance of rain, is expected to replace Monday’s warm Santa Anas today.

Moving in from the north, the front will bring afternoon clouds and a 20% chance of light showers tonight and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

From Laguna Beach to the Mexican border, west winds will reach 15 m.p.h. in the afternoon. Northerly winds will blow up to 30 m.p.h. below the canyons and the passes.

“It will be pretty breezy,” said Stephanie Hunter, meteorologist for WeatherData, which provides forecasts for The Times.

Temperatures will be cooler with highs in the mid- to upper 60s today. Tuesday night and Wednesday lows are expected in the mid-50s and highs in the mid-60s.

Whatever showers fall, they are expected to measure much less than the weekend showers.

That precipitation, heavier in Los Angeles than Orange County, pushed that city over the average annual rainfall for 1991. However, Santa Ana received only .07 on Saturday, bringing the season total in that city to .10, far below the .47 normal average, according to WeatherData.
