FLICKS FILM AND VIDEO FILE : These Seats Taken : Even the chairs were removed quickly when a Mann theater in Oxnard closed.

Did you get a chance to say goodby to the Mann theater in Oxnard’s Esplanade Shopping Center? Workers collected the theater’s belongings, seats and all, and began vacating the place rather quickly.

Erin Du Nah, marketing director for the shopping center, said a search is under way for a new tenant. “We’re actively marketing the space,” she said. “At this time we don’t have plans for it to be a theater, but that’s not to say it won’t be.”

Ventura College’s Travel Film series resumes today with “Kingdom of the Netherlands,” by San Clemente filmmaker Sherilyn Mentes. The film has scenes from Amsterdam, Leiden, Gouda, Limbourg, Rotterdam, Arnhem, Friesland, Drenthe and of course, the weekly cheese market in Alkmaar. The presentation will be given twice at the Ventura College Theater, at 3 p.m. and at 7 p.m. Admission is $3.50 (general) and $3 (seniors) for the early show, and $4 (general) and $3.50 (seniors) for the late show. Family Film Night at the Ray D. Prueter Library on Wednesday will have an American Indian focus. First on the double-feature is “Out Totem Is the Raven,” the story of a modern urban Indian boy who isn’t particularly interested in the culture and customs of his ancestors. The boy’s grandfather takes him into the forest in an attempt to give him a better understanding of the past.

Movie number two, “Navajo Girl,” looks at an 8-year-old girl and her family on the Navajo Reservation in Round Rock, Ariz.

The first movie will begin at 7 p.m. in the library’s Children’s Department. Admission is free. The library is at 510 Park Ave., Port Hueneme. For more information call 486-5460.

For more international viewing, the Ojai Film Society will present “Journey of Hope” on Sunday at the Ojai Playhouse. The Swiss production won this year’s Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. It is the story of a Turkish family’s attempt to get out of its homeland and relocate to Switzerland. Show time is 4:30 p.m. The Playhouse is located at 145 E. Ojai Ave.
