Angered: Virginia Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, says she remembers his disgust when she told him she had been sexually harassed by a boss. “And for what that man did to me, I think Clarence could have killed him,” Thomas says in People magazine. “It wasn’t verbal harassment, it was physical. It was something I had put down in the recesses of my mind.” At her husband’s urging, Thomas “went to management, and that got to the problem discreetly and directly.”

Awarded: Law Professor Anita Hill was honored in New York by a national black women’s group for heroism in her testimony against then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas, alleging sexual harassment, an experience she says is the story of many working women. Hill says the letters she gets from around the world tell her “my experience . . . is not only my story, but the story of African-American women in the workplace throughout this country, and indeed the story of all women.”

Horsing Around: Former White House press secretary James Brady is enjoying horseback therapy for injuries suffered in the 1981 assassination attempt on President Reagan. “It’s done great things for my sense of balance and my confidence,” says Brady, who rode horses as a youngster. Brady has relied on a wheelchair since John Hinckley’s attack permanently disabled him. Says a friend: “When I first started riding with Jim, he had four people with him--three to hold him on and one to lead him around. Now, the two of us go on trail rides alone.”

T Time: The Democratic National Committee is taking a fresh swipe at President Bush’s frequent foreign travels with a T-shirt promoting his “Anywhere But America Tour.” On the back, the T-shirt lists more than 30 foreign cities Bush has visited in the past year or plans to visit soon. With the President planning a trip to Rome Wednesday, he won’t cotton to the message on the front: “George Bush Went to Rome and All I Got Was This Lousy Recession.”
