Toshiba America Cuts Portable PC Prices: The Irvine-based company cut the suggested retail price on eight portable computers by up to 24%. The reductions apply to such models as the T2000 notebook computer, which is dropping from $3,149 to $2,599; the T2200SX-60 notebook, going from $4,799 to $4,299, and the T3200SX-120 laptop, falling from $4,399 to $4,099. Toshiba’s announcement follows similar price cuts by most personal computer makers, which are faced with declining demand for their machines due to increased competition and the recession.
