Wallace and Lorraine Stumble in U.S. Olympic Baseball Trials

Derek Wallace, a Chatsworth High graduate and currently a junior at Pepperdine, was the starting and losing pitcher Wednesday as Florida defeated the West, 15-1, in the U.S. Olympic baseball trials in Homestead, Fla.

Wallace allowed three runs (two earned) and two hits in four innings, struck out four and walked one.

Andrew Lorraine, a Hart High graduate now at Stanford, pitched the seventh inning and gave up five runs (four earned) on four hits. He struck out one and walked two.

Ninety players are participating in the trials, which will conclude Saturday. Forty will be invited for a June training camp, and 20 will be selected for the Olympic team.
