Peace Talks in Madrid

It is ironic that Bush and Baker are both so sanctimoniously involved in the peace negotiations between Arabs and Jews, factions that have been warring since time immemorial. Would that they were so involved with the domestic problems that plague our own country so severely.

But of course we have to put on that “all-knowing,” indispensable participation even though we are falling apart at the seams in our own back yard, seemingly unable to cope with our own problems. Who is going to negotiate our own shortcomings? We have a failing economy, frightening crime figures and contempt for law and order that threatens the very fiber of our great country, plus an educational system that is next to last in the world. Yes, it will take money. But at the time when we should be caring for our deteriorating infrastructure, and not finding the funds to do so, we are preparing to dole out countless billions to ungrateful nations, many who despise us. Does it make any sense? Of course it doesn’t.

It also ironic that Baker stated that the United States is in favor of Israel giving land for peace, placing in jeopardy the safety of a very small nation.
