Share

Ventura-based tour operator Bob Lambert, who caters almost exclusivly to mature travelers, has chartered a 62-foot boat for three-day cruises through Alaska’s Inside Passage as part of his 12-day 1992 Alaska packages.

Tour members cruising the Inside Passage during the day will average six to eight hours on the water, and occasionally will go ashore for close-ups of glaciers and wildlife. Hotel accommodations are planned for the three-day Inside Passage cruise.

The charter is the Crystal Fjord, owned by Dale Pihlman, who has spent more than 20 years as a naturalist and boat captain sailing the Inside Passage.

Lambert’s Alaska air, rail and motor-coach tour, in addition to cruising, visits Juneau, offers a flight over Glacier Bay, goes to Haines and drives up the Alcan Highway to Fairbanks. Also scheduled is a cruise on the Tanana River aboard a paddle-wheeler, and an overnight and tour of Mt. McKinley country in Denali National Park.

Touring in Anchorage, a ride on the Whittier railroad to Whittier and a glacier sightseeing cruise in Prince William Sound are also on the schedule.

Cost is $2,996 per person, double occupancy, with all Alaskan travel, sightseeing, cruises, 15 meals, accommodations, tips and taxes part of the price. Air fare to Seattle, where the trip begins and which Lambert can help arrange, is extra.

Thirty-eight departures, from mid-May to mid-September, 1992, are scheduled. Each tour is limited to 34 persons.

In addition to Alaska and other U.S. and international tours, Lambert runs about 10 motor-coach tours every week in California and Nevada.
