Gang Dispute Blamed in Slaying of Youth

Los Angeles police have identified a Panorama City youth who was fatally shot during the weekend as Michael Holquin, 18, and said he was apparently the victim of a gang-related dispute.
Holquin was shot several times in the upper torso, Lt. Harvie Eubank said. He was pronounced dead at the scene in the 8600 block of Willis Avenue in Panorama City, Eubank said.
Holquin and his 14-year-old brother were walking home from a movie theater about 4:45 p.m. Sunday when they encountered four other young men and became involved in a brief argument that included typical gang language, Eubank said. The dispute ended without incident, and the brothers continued walking. But several minutes later, the brothers encountered the same group again, the dispute resumed, and Holquin was shot to death, Eubank said.
No arrests have been made, Eubank said.
