Here to stay: Apologies to Subaru of America, which last month announced that it would consolidate its existing western region offices in Irvine and Portland, Ore., into a single office in Portland.
Subaru’s national headquarters is in New Jersey, and corporate officials could not be contacted when the news broke. The story may have implied that Subaru was getting out of Orange County.
No such thing is planned, company spokesman Richard S. Marshall wrote after the article appeared Sept. 19.
True, the company has created a new western regional office in Portland to oversee operations in nine states, but the Irvine office will remain open to serve the 79 existing Subaru dealers in California, Arizona and Nevada, Marshall said.
