A Glendora man is among three pilots who joined the Blue Angels as the Navy flight demonstration squadron closed its 45th season.

The new assignments were announced Saturday in Pensacola, Fla., as the Blue Angels team concluded its March-to-November schedule with a homecoming show at the Pensacola Naval Air Station. The squadron performs at about 40 sites each year.

Joining the Blue Angels for 1992 are Lt. Larry Packer of Glendora, Lt. Douglas Thompson of Orange Park, Fla., and Lt. David Stewart of Parshall, N.D.

Packer and Thompson will fly the No. 2 and No. 3 jets in the six-plane show team, and Stewart will serve as narrator. Stewart will also fly Blue Angel No. 7, a two-seat version of the F/A-18 Hornets used to give publicity rides to celebrities and news media representatives.

Richard Barr, former production director for the Music Center in downtown Los Angeles, has been appointed manager of the Civic Auditorium in Pasadena.

The new manager said he wants to bring the Los Angeles Classical Ballet and touring musical comedies to Pasadena Civic.

Before joining the Music Center six years ago, Barr, 42, was producer and stage manager at several theaters, including the Eisenhower Theatre at the Kennedy Center.

He lives in Pasadena and attended the University of Oklahoma.
