The gusty winds of the past few days will blow away by Saturday morning, leaving San Diego County with clearer skies and warmer temperatures for the rest of the weekend, forecasters said.

The cool, strong winds will remain here today, some as high as 25 m.p.h., said Wilbur Shigehara of the National Weather Service in San Diego.

The winds, and their accompanying cooler temperatures, mark the southern tail of an intense storm breaking over Utah and Nevada.

Though the storm has brought plenty of rain and snow into the Rocky Mountains, San Diego received only a minuscule 0.01 of an inch in Poway on Thursday, the weather service said.

A weak high-pressure system will force the storm’s tail east by Saturday morning. As the cold front departs, East San Diego County can expect frost and a chilly Saturday morning, Shigehara said.

The beaches should have highs in the upper 60s all weekend and lows in the 50s. The water temperature this weekend will be 62 degrees, the weather service said.

Today’s highs along the coast are expected to be 66 to 70 degrees, with lows in the 40s. Saturday and Sunday highs will be near 75, with lows from 45 to 55, Shigehara said.

Inland areas can expect highs today in the upper 60s, dropping to near freezing tonight, with expected lows of 35 to 45. The weather service said inland highs on Saturday and Sunday should peak at about 80 degrees, with lows both nights in the high 40s.
