Foreigners Up Share of U.S. Farmland: Foreign interests owned 14.5 million acres, or slightly more than 1%, of privately owned U.S. agricultural land at the end of 1990, the Agriculture Department said. Although that is up 15% from the previous year, it should not be cause for alarm, said Peter DeBraal of USDA.
