Sigmund Rothschild, 74, an art appraiser and restorer who advised such public figures as Joan Crawford, George M. Cohan, Ira Gershwin, William Randolph Hearst, Nelson A. Rockefeller and Igor Stravinsky on the purchase of collectibles. Rothschild was a self-taught appraiser who was the host of two TV shows, “Trash or Treasure” (1948-53) and “What’s It Worth,” which began as part of “The Kate Smith Hour” on daytime television and later in 1952 branched out on its own before going off the air the next year. He also wrote “A Beginner’s Guide to Antiques and Collectibles.” In Del Mar on Nov. 6 of complications from diabetes.
