Rancho Santa Fe Golf

I laughed out loud as I read John Glionna’s article about the public use of the Rancho Santa Fe golf course (“Teed Off,” Nov. 7). (I live in Leucadia, where some people get a charge out of partying on the railroad tracks.) The same issue of your paper offered a 9-mile walk through “parks, backcountry and citrus groves of Rancho Santa Fe.” It’s not like these people have nowhere to go.

What’s next? Jogging across Interstate 5? Shuffleboard on the runways at the airport? Why not a Sunday picnic in the end zone at the next Charger home game (the Chargers don’t seem to use it much).

Considering the score of the average golfer, the best way to avoid hitting stray joggers is to aim directly at them. That probably affords them the most protection from actually being hit.
