Orlando Signs Top Choice, Arizona’s Williams
First-round draft pick Brian Williams of Arizona signed a multiyear contract with the Orlando Magic on Monday and rookie center Stanley Roberts was placed on the injured list.
Williams, a 6-foot-11 power forward, will be in uniform when the Magic plays Utah on Wednesday night. The contract is believed to be the same four-year, $4.6-million offer Orlando made during preseason.
Williams’ signing and that of Indiana’s Dale Davis leaves only Luc Longley of Minnesota unsigned among first-round draft choices. To make room for Davis, the Pacers waived forward Mike Sanders.
