Latvian Teams Beat Aztecs Twice
The San Diego State men’s basketball team finished its two-game exhibition season with an uneven performance Monday night during an 88-80 loss to the Latvian National Team in Peterson Gym.
The Aztecs, once again without Keith Balzer (knee tendinitis), led by 10 points four different times in the first half but trailed at halftime, 41-40. SDSU also led by seven midway through the second half, 69-62, but were hurt when Joe McNaull (nine points, six rebounds) and Virgil Smith (eight points, eight assists) fouled out.
Courtie Miller led SDSU with 26 points and freshman John Molle had 10.
The SDSU women opened its exhibition season with a preliminary game against the Latvian National Team and lost, 71-62. Kieishsha Garnes led the Aztecs with 27 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Michelle Miles had 15 assists.
