Phillips Retires: Laughlin Phillips is retiring as director of the esteemed Phillips Collection in Washington. Phillips, 67, has been director since 1972; he will continue as board chairman. A search for his replacement--who will be the first non-Phillips to take charge of the collection--has begun.
