NEWBURY PARK : Woman Arrested in Attack on Husband

A Newbury Park woman is scheduled to be arraigned today on a mayhem charge after she allegedly slashed her husband’s penis with a knife, authorities said.

Kimly Tfy Mizell, 43, was being held in Ventura County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail, an official said. Ventura County Sheriff’s Detective Mike Powers said Mizell was arrested in connection with an attack on her husband early Monday morning.

Steven Mizell, 35, told authorities that he woke up about 3 a.m. after feeling pain in his groin and found himself covered with blood. He drove himself, his wife and his daughter to Westlake Medical Center, where he was in fair condition, a nursing supervisor said.

Powers said Kimly Mizell told officers that she was distraught about her failing marriage and financial problems and was worried that her husband may have been involved with another woman.

After a search of the couple’s residence in the 3000 block of North Bernadine Street, investigators found a small knife with a sharp, razor-edged blade that was apparently used in the attack.
