Joe M. Weller, a former Carnation Co. executive vice president, and now head of Nestle’s Australian market, replaces Crull as Nestle USA president. Weller will have the added title of chief operating officer.

“These decisions make all the more sense as we have just put the final touches on a major restructuring effort in the U.S. resulting in a unified corporation combining all of our food businesses,” said Helmut Maucher, chairman and chief executive of Nestle S.A., based in Vevey, Switzerland.

Crull joined Carnation Co. in 1955, became vice president in 1967 and a member of the board in 1972. He was progressively given additional responsibilities, including president, Carnation International, in 1981. He was elected president of Carnation Co. in 1983 and chief executive in 1985 after the acquisition of Carnation Co. by Nestle S.A.
