Chino’s Police Chief to Take Glendale Post
James E. Anthony, police chief of Chino for the past 11 years, has been hired to head the Glendale Police Department, beginning Jan. 6, city officials announced Wednesday.
Anthony, 48, was chosen from more than 50 candidates who applied in a nationwide search after Chief David J. Thompson announced in June that he planned to retire for health reasons.
Thompson, who underwent double bypass surgery after a 1988 heart attack, will continue to administer the department until Anthony’s arrival, City Manager David Ramsay said.
Anthony will be paid $108,000 annually to oversee a department with 214 sworn employees, 98 civilian staff members and a $23-million annual budget.
