* Tony award-winner Chita Rivera is making a rare stage appearance in Los Angeles. She sings and dances in 16 performances of “Chita” at the Westwood Playhouse accompanied by two dancers and an 11-piece band. The Puerto Rican performer’s show includes songs she introduced in the Broadway musicals “West Side Story,” “Bye Bye Birdie” and “Chicago,” as well as numbers from “Sweet Charity,” “Can-Can” and “Hello, Dolly!” The show runs until Dec. 1.

Vicente Fernandez performed last month at New York’s newly opened Paramount Theatre--formerly the Felt Forum--before an audience of 6,000. Angelenos will have a chance to enjoy Fernandez’s extensive musical repertoire when he brings his show to the Universal Amphitheatre Dec. 1. Also at the Amphitheatre, Julio Iglesias will appear Nov. 27, 29, 30 and Dec. 2. His most recent English-language album, “Starry Night,” includes Iglesias’ interpretations of nostalgic favorites, such as Nat King Cole’s “Mona Lisa” and the Beatles’ “And I Love Her.”

Emmanuel’s new music video, “Causa Perdida” (“Lost Cause”) from his hit album “Vida” (“Life”) features 27-year-old Yugoslav beauty Violeta, who was selected for the role from among more than 48 international models. Filmed using the island scenery of Virginia Key, near Miami, Emmanuel plays a painter madly in love with his muse. It is no coincidence that the video is set among a lush tropical backdrop. The Mexican singer is much involved in the ecology movement and, via his songs and videos, aims to motivate the public to conserve our natural resources.

Andy Garcia has been asked to star in “Chico,” a Warner Bros. production about the life of Chico Mendes, who captured world attention with his valiant efforts to save Brazil’s rain forests from destruction and who was assassinated in 1988. Filming is scheduled to begin next spring, probably in Costa Rica. Garcia was nominated for an Oscar this year as best supporting actor for his role in “The Godfather, Part III.”

The movie “Aces: Iron Eagle III,” which opens in January, stars Latina beauty Rachel McLish in her feature film debut. But the Texas-born McLish, whose full name is Rachel Livia Elizondo McLish, is no stranger to the public eye. Winner of the first two “Miss Olympia” titles in 1981 and 1982 and the 1982 World Female Bodybuilding Championship, McLish exited the world of bodybuilding to enter other arenas. Besides authoring several books on female fitness and owning a popular line of exercise-wear, McLish previously appeared in “Pumping Iron II: The Women,” and the CBS special “Women of the 21st Century.” “Aces” also stars Oscar winner Louis Gossett Jr.
