CLIPBOARD : Sales Tax Revenue

Share

In September, the most recent month for which information is available, Orange County received a $18.6 million in sales and use tax revenue from the state. That is 29% less than the amount received in September, 1990.

Individually, 23 of the county’s cities received less than they did last September, with the largest percentage changes taking place in Buena Park and Fountain Valley. Six cities, most notably La Palma, received more in 1991.

Each month city and county governments and other governmental organizations receive payments from the state in anticipation of actual sales tax revenue. In the fourth month, they receive a cleanup payment--the difference between actual revenue and the amounts previously received--plus the first advance payment for the next quarter. The amounts listed here are the first advance payment for the third quarter of 1991. Both the 1990 and 1991 figures are rounded to the nearest dollar.
