A federal judge Tuesday sentenced a husband and wife from Canyon Country to prison for a July bank robbery spree in the San Fernando Valley.

Brian Kevin Renslow, 36, was sentenced to six years and four months in prison after pleading guilty to robbing three banks in Granada Hills, Studio City and Woodland Hills, said Charlie J. Parsons, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles office.

Katherine Lynne Renslow, 28, received a 21-month prison sentence for driving a getaway car in one of the robberies, said Gary G. Auer, supervising agent of the FBI’s Ventura County office.

Brian Renslow was indicted on charges of robbing six Valley banks between July 9 and 12, but federal authorities dismissed charges relating to three of them as part of a plea bargain, Auer said.

He said Renslow, who did not exhibit a weapon during the robberies, stole less than $6,000 from the six banks.

Auer said the six-year sentence was standard under federal sentencing guidelines for bank robbers who do not use a weapon.
