China Denies Child-Labor Allegations: China denounced U.S. groups urging a boycott of Chinese-made toys and denied their contention that it uses child labor. “The employment of child laborers is illegal in China,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Wu Jianmin said in Washington. The AFL-CIO and the National Consumers League have launched a Christmas season boycott of toys made in China on grounds that China uses child and prison labor.
