GM to Eliminate Some Christmas Bonuses: There will be no Christmas bonus for General Motors Corp.’s salaried workers this year as the auto maker struggles through one of the worst economic slumps in its history. About 100,000 GM employees in the United States and 7,000 in Canada won’t get the annual $600 holiday bonus, a move the auto maker says will save it more than $60 million. GM’s 300,000 hourly workers, covered by the United Auto Workers, will get their bonus next week, however. GM lost more than $2.2 billion in the first nine months this year, including $1.1 billion in the third quarter.
