Hacienda La Puente : Bill of Rights Van at Schools
- Share via
In honor of the bicentennial of the Bill of Rights, more than 10,000 schoolchildren and adults in Los Angeles County have been learning about their rights and other guaranteed freedoms from the back of a van.
Vans carrying pocket-sized versions of the Bill of Rights have visited schools and shopping malls for the last month through the Bill of Rights on Wheels program. The program was created by the Constitutional Rights Foundation, a nonprofit organization, to make Americans aware of their rights during the 200th anniversary celebration.
In addition to providing the small copies of the Bill of Rights, lawyers and other foundation volunteers have been available to discuss historical and current issues with students and others.
The program is scheduled to be in Hacienda Heights at the Los Altos Elementary School at 8:30 a.m. Monday. It will be in Hacienda Heights at Wilson High School 4 at noon Wednesday and at Nelson Elementary School in La Puente at 1 p.m. Thursday.
