Two free-lance writers meet over beers: “So, what kind of computer do you have?” asks Writer No. 1.

“I don’t use a computer, too much hassle. I use Direct Application Technology,” replies Writer No. 2.

“What’s that?”

“It’s this amazing system--you hit the keys and the words appear immediately on paper, no files, no screen, no printers. Really convenient. . . . It’s also called a typewriter.”
