It’s Not a Trailer

Share

I own a home in Point Dume Mobilehome Park. It has long since stopped being a mobile home, and is now a house, similar to many homes not located in mobile home parks. It is not a moveable trailer. Even the state mobile home civil code uses the term “homeowners.”

In such parks, residents own their homes, and the park owner is the owner of the land. As such, their relationship has often been in contention as to the merits that each brings to the total value of the park.

I firmly protest the wording used by your reporter (Times, Nov. 21) in calling our communities “trailer parks” and calling us “trailer park residents.”

A home in a mobile home park is not a trailer. And the park owner is the owner of the land, and leases land space to a homeowner.
