RTD Police Force Opens Downtown Substation
RTD police have announced that they will increase the visibility of uniformed officers along the downtown Broadway corridor in Los Angeles during the holiday shopping season.
As part of that effort, the transit police have opened their first downtown substation, at 3rd Street and Broadway in the Million Dollar Building. The RTD force, established in 1978, now comprises 198 officers.
RTD Police Chief Sharon K. Papa said that the rented quarters for the substation were selected in cooperation with Miracle on Broadway, a merchants’ organization that promotes retail activity along the Broadway corridor.
