Brawls broke out Sunday and Monday at a Los Angeles County jail facility in Castaic, continuing a series of fights between black and Latino inmates.

Four inmates were injured in a fight Monday between 10 black and 10 Latino inmates in a maximum security dormitory at the Peter Pitchess Honor Rancho, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Hal Grant. Ten deputies ended the disturbance. Four prisoners were treated for minor injuries, Grant said.

There have been at least 14 outbreaks of racial fighting at the Pitchess jail facility since April, authorities said.

In the fight Sunday, 19 inmates were hurt in a clash over a bag of potato chips that involved 40 inmates. Nineteen inmates suffered minor injuries in that fight, including one man who required stitches in his face, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
