The Chargers placed defensive end George Hinkle, who suffered a groin injury Sunday, on injured reserve and replaced him with defensive tackle Vance Hammond off the Rams’ practice squad. The Chargers also signed offensive tackle Sheldon Haliburton to their practice squad.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Sixth-seeded Grossmont fell to third-seeded Cuesta College, 15-6, 15-9, 15-7, in the second round of the Southern California Community College Regionals in San Luis Obispo. Chelsea Bergeson had 13 kills for Grossmont, which finished 14-6.

TENNIS

Top-seeded Jose Luis Noriega advanced in the second round of the San Diego All-College Tennis Tournament with a 6-4, 6-0 victory UC San Diego’s John Cross. All other seeded players won and advanced to today’s third round.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Rusty Fallin scored 16 and Donnie Buettner 13, but Cal State Dominguez Hills scored a 77-58 nonconference victory over Point Loma Nazarene (2-3). Dominguez Hills is 2-2.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Christy Stevens scored 17 and Camille Armijo scored 14, and they combined for five consecutive three-point baskets to open the second half, to lead PLNC over Pomona-Pitzer, 73-59, in a nonconference game. Rochelle Lightner scored 13 for PLNC (3-3). Pomona-Pitzer is 2-3.
