WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : San Diego State Beats USC, 71-64

Kieishsha Garnes had 27 points and nine rebounds Tuesday night to lead San Diego State to a 71-64 upset of 18th-ranked USC in a women’s college basketball game at San Diego.
The Aztecs (3-1) had 65-50 lead before Tammy Story scored five of her 13 points in a 12-2 run that got the Trojans (1-1) within 65-62.
But San Diego State made four of five free throws in the final minute.
Lisa Leslie had 22 points for USC, and Joni Easterly contributed 18 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
San Diego State had a 30-27 halftime lead and surged further ahead with a 10-2 burst to open the second half.
