Arcadia : Grant on Behalf of History
The Arcadia Public Library on Duarte Road received a $11,000 grant Tuesday from a local foundation to preserve the city’s historical material.
The H. N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation, which was established in California in 1961, stipulated that the donation be used only to complete the library’s two-year history preservation project.
Mary Beth Hayes, reference librarian, said most of the money will be used to pay for transferring city directories, newspaper articles and other historical material to microfilm.
