4 Are Hanged in Iran for Heroin Smuggling

NICOSIA, Cyprus —
Four heroin smugglers, including two Afghans, were hanged Wednesday in Iran in the latest executions under Iran’s strict drug laws, the Islamic Republic News Agency reported.
Since early 1989, Iran has hanged more than 2,500 drug smugglers under a law mandating a death sentence for possession of even small quantities of drugs with intent to sell.
