Cuomo Aides Prepare to Hire Campaign Staff

WASHINGTON — Top advisers to New York Gov. Mario M. Cuomo have begun recruiting a campaign staff, a move fellow Democrats interpreted as a step toward presidential candidacy.
The advisers said they hope to assemble a list of names of people able and willing to fill the top campaign jobs, should Cuomo decide to run, by sometime next week. “We’ll have recommendations for as many slots as we can,” said Brad Johnson, who runs the governor’s New York state office in Washington
