Switzerland’s Vreni Schneider won the first World Cup women’s giant slalom race of the season, at Santa Caterina Valfurva, Italy.
Schneider was timed in 2:20.66, easily beating Deborah Compagnoni of Italy. American Diann Roffe was third, her best finish since 1990.
