An Inglewood police officer rushing to investigate a ringing burglary alarm on Monday crashed head-on into a car, sending two adults and a child to the hospital.

The driver of the car was reported in stable condition by police. Her passengers, an unidentified male and a child, received moderate injuries, according to police.

Authorities declined to release the names of those involved in the crash, though police said the officer suffered only minor injuries. His patrol car was demolished and its steering wheel bent out of shape from the impact.

The officer was traveling south on Prairie Avenue about 10 a.m. when he ran into a Ford Mustang that was northbound. When the cars collided, the Mustang was thrown into the path of a third car.

Two adults in that car suffered minor injuries and four children traveling with them were taken to a hospital for observation and released, said Police Department spokesman Sgt. Alex Perez.
