Kitty Hawk Awards Presented: The Kitty Hawk Sands of Time award was given to 14 high school math and science teachers from Southern California. The awards, provided by the Southern California aerospace industry and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, included $1,000 grants for classroom instruction. “Math and science teachers have been and will continue to be among the very linchpins of progress,” said Rockwell International Executive Vice President Sam Iacobellis. Separately, Rockwell contributed $87,500 to the Challenger Center for Space Science Education, a privately funded organization in Alexandria, Va., that promotes science, math and technology learning.
